I
am originally from the Buffalo, New York area. I have a double
major B.A. in Psychology and Health and Human Services. I
have my Master’s in Social Work. I intended to spend
the rest of my working life doing grief counseling, preferably
with children.
I moved to Raleigh in 1998
with my husband, Steve, to start our new life together in
a warmer climate. I eventually became a nephrology social
worker, working with kidney dialysis patients in outpatient
clinics. In 2003, I left the work field to be able to stay
home with our newly born daughter. Which grew to two children
(a son) two years later.
I have always enjoyed the look
of decorated cookies. I just never had the time to devote
to cultivating this interest. I also never imagined there
could be such a desire for cookies! Having enjoyed decorative
painting, I found it easy to move to “painting”
with icing. I began making cookies in February 2006 when many
of my friends were pregnant. I was making many baby shower
cookies! Before I knew it, I was making cookies for Steve’s
company celebrations and friends were commissioning me to
make cookies for their events.
Oringially I planned to return
to the social work field, but with all my enjoyment I've started
thinking how I can take my hobby and turn it into a full-time
job.
Who would have thought someone
that does not like to bake would be making cookies for a living?
